Passenger advice
•To avoid the queues, why not buy and collect your tickets in advance?
•To help you stay refreshed, bring a bottle of water.
•Access to platforms at some stations may be restricted; please follow the directions of staff and accept our apologies if you aren’t able to board your preferred train.
•Normal cycle restrictions will be in place but please avoid travelling with bikes, as space on trains will be limited.
•On Monday, 7 July, from 4.30pm our services will be very busy out of London King’s Cross. Furthermore, off-peak tickets will not be valid until 7pm. Please plan your journey to avoid these times – why not visit one of the Fan Parks instead?
•The last train may also be busy.
Special arrangements for train services
We will be lengthening many trains in each direction on the Cambridge to London King's Cross route. Trains which we expect to be the most popular, which are the 1044 from London King's Cross to Cambridge and the 1245, 1315, 1345 and 1415 from Cambridge to London King's Cross will run with 12 carriages. We will also be lengthening services out of King’s Cross later in the evening when many people with off-peak tickets are expected to be travelling.

Liverpool Street to Cambridge services
All trains between about 0900 and 1500 are planned to be 8 coaches.
0833 Liverpool Street to Cambridge calls additionally at Bishops Stortford and Whittlesford Parkway.(12 coaches)
0858, 0958, 1058, 1158, 1258 Liverpool Street to Cambridge call additionally at Great Chesterford and Shelford.
1004, 1104, 1204, 1304, 1404 Cambridge to Liverpool Street call additionally at Shelford and Great Chesterford.
Additional trains run from Ely to Cambridge at 0920 (Non stop 8 cars), and 1100(also calls Waterbeach at 1109, only 4-cars).
Chingford Line services will run to the normal 15 minute frequency, but will all be strengthened to 8 coaches from 1200.
Braintree Line services will have the following services strengthened
09:48 and 13:48 Liverpool Street to Braintree
11:00 and 15:00 Braintree to Liverpool Street

Covering a total of 389km of Yorkshire’s finest land and 159km of Cambridge’s, Essex’s and London’s greatest sights, following the race around the UK could not be easier thanks to the additional 1,350 seats we’ve added to our train services for the event. These additional seats even include a special direct train service from Sheffield to Cambridge on 6 July so that you can travel straight from the finish line of Stage 2 to the starting location of Stage 3 from just £19. Whether you choose to reflect back on the day’s events or plan for the next stage of the Tour – our services provide a great value and comfortable way to travel to Leeds, Sheffield, Cambridge and London thanks to our additional services listed below, plus you’ll also benefit from missing the traffic!

Special Stage Three Service: Sheffield - Cambridge
As mentioned above, to allow you to travel smoothly from the end of Stage Two to the start of Stage Three, we've added a special service departing Sheffield at 1858 and arriving into Cambridge at 2140. As the only direct service operating from Sheffield to Cambridge, this service will allow you to digest the day's events, relax and prepare for the excitement ahead at Stage Three! This service also stops at Nottingham, Peterborough and Ely, so even if you haven't witnessed the end of Stage Two, you can still make sure that you cheer on the cyclists at the beginning of Stage Three.
Plus, with Advance fares starting from just £19 one way, not only are you avoiding changing at stations, but you can also save up to £47 when booking an Advance fare online as opposed to a Standard Anytime Single.*
Return Travel From Stage Three
The grand finale of the Grand Départ will take place at the quintessentially British location of The Mall, London, with elite cyclists such as Chris Froome and Mark Cavendish passing the famous London sights of the Olympic Stadium and Tower Bridge on their way to the sprint finish. Whether you choose to travel straight to London or visit the start of Stage 3 in Cambridge before heading to the capital, with 4 services an hour from London St Pancras, our many services will provide a comfortable journey back from the finish line:

To give you more choice when travelling to Yorkshire over the race weekends, we’ve extended some of our regular timetabled journeys and added some extras. The extra trains have been timed to bring you to the heart of the action so you can soak up the pre-race atmosphere. You’ll find these when you search for journeys on our website and we recommend booking as early as possible to get your seats reserved. Fares start from £13 each way from London to Leeds or York and £15 from Edinburgh to York when booked in advance through our website.

Customers for Thirsk should remain on the train to Northallerton and change there for a mini bus to Thirsk.
A replacement mini bus will operate from Thirsk (dep 0553) to Northallerton to connect with the train.
