Hence why I hoped it was relatively close!

We take the Stagecoach in Warwickshire service 86 at 1928 from the Transport Museum (100 yards?) to Rugby, Sainsburys on Dunchurch Road, arriving at 2042 Thursday evening

I'm really struggling to find any further connecting services, so we call it a night before boarding the 0715 Stagecoach in Warwickshire service 64 to Leamington Spa (Upper Parade), arriving there at 0800 on Friday morning.

If there are any later services on the Thursday evening, please let me know and I'll edit my post. Thanks!

Well this is a fine cul-de-sac we've gotten ourselves into

As a wait of nearly 24 hours is out of the question we have only the S5
bus route available. Seen as this is the end of the line we have no choice but to alight and spend an uneasy 15 minutes waiting for the bus driver to turn around, roll the blinds/press a button to change the destination from Arncott to Oxford.

Why uneasy?

Try looking at this bus stop and its surrounds in Google street view. Not possible. The rest of the village, even the nearby prison is viewable but not the barracks.

Clearly they have something in there that is not for prying eyes.
Already we have piqued the guards by first being a non squaddie alighting in a place where the only thing around is a great big barracks and secondly we have a camera (of course) to record our epic journey.
We hasten to take as many pictures of the bus as possible while we wait and then with some relief we board the bus and are glad we are not being sent to the prison up the road for spying and are instead heading for...

I think that you have to remember from the old days on the original quiz how easy it is to make bus journeys constantly visiting every known environ of that settlement, so not wishing that fate to befall us staunch supporters of omnibus travel, I will now make the following posting:-

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

If teenagers and young adults use hand-held state of the art music players on buses these days (with or without earphones) when travelling by bus, if one was said to travel by omnibus (a word of which I tend to use when flowery language does descend upon me), would the required player needed to play music on such a named mode of transport be a gramophone...

May I intercede here as the rules of the quiz do state that the maximum walking distance is only half a mile (0.5 miles), so surely a walking distance of 0.8 miles is in excess of this.

That is indeed the case. For some reason I thought the maximum walking distance was 1.5 miles.

In that case, with permission of the quizmasters, I think it is fair that we return to Cambridge (Parkside Bus Station), having just arrived off the X5 at 2210 on Friday evening.

I have subsequently striked through all postings made after.

You may not walk between stations of the same transport mode however you may walk up to half a mile when changing modes to a stop in the vicinity.

I've noted a few moves recently were walks between stops of the same mode have been made.

Anyway we walk to Broadstairs Pierremont Hall, catching the Stagecoach East Kent route 9 to Sturry Rail Station, leaving at 0920, and arriving at 1013 on a Saturday morning.
