can i still get PRIV rate on the underground

trying to get my head around this one
I'm a retired BR safeguarded staff member, can I still get a pri rate ticket at the underground ticket office (if they still exist)
going to Kings cross then on to seven sisters via the underground on sunday
I've not been to London for a few years & just been reading about oyster cards but it does not say anything about 1 off visits/jurouney's on the underground

What is your entire journey? Are you wanting a single, or returning the same day?

This perhaps "may or may not" be of use, but...

Buying a standard Oyster card and only completing one journey is fine. You can get a refund of the deposit and any remaining credit. It's probably best to check you have ID with you for the refund process!

I expect you should find the ticket office at Kings Cross St Pancras open, though it may, naturally, be very busy.

As of 6 months ago they were still available.
Used one for Kings Cross to Central area.

Safeguarded staff (both Active and Retired) do indeed still get PRIV rate on paper Singles and Returns on LU, though note that the PRIV rate Day Travelcard has been abolished.

You can also get your entitlement added to an Oyster, but the normal undiscounted daily caps apply!

Do you intend to travel Retford - Kings X using a £43.50 PRV ANYTIME RETURN RETFORD - LONDON TERMINALS ticket?

If so, consider a £43.50 PRV ANYTIME RETURN RETFORD - SEVEN SISTERS route ✠ ANY PERMITTED instead. This is valid via Kings X at no extra cost and operates the tube ticket barriers at Kings X and Seven Sisters.

If not using a £43.50 PRV ANYTIME RETURN RETFORD - LONDON TERMINALS ticket, you may save time if you buy a £2.35 PRV ANYTIME DAY RETURN LONDON TERMINALS - ZONE U123* LONDN route VIA UNDERGRD/DLR ticket at Retford ticket office before your journey to London.

Surely that is intended for travel out of Liverpool Street and does not include Underground validity? Although the same price, the fare from London Terminals to ZONE U123* LONDN routed VIA UNDERGRD/DLR would seem to me to be more appropriate.

To get Priv discount applied to your Oyster card:

1. Print off and fill in this (WARNING: opens pdf directly) form

2. Post it to Rail Staff Travel

3. When it has been signed off by them, and returned to you, take it to any London Underground ticket office

You say that you live in Retford, but will you seriously never be using the Underground again? Paper singles for LUL travel at Priv rate will be abolished next year, so you should definitely consider this if the options mentioned above are no good for you.

Seven Sisters is on an inter-available route (Victoria Line).

There is no joint/inter availability between London Terminals and Seven Sisters on LU or NR services. A ticket from Zone U1 -> Seven Sisters (or vice versa) would however have joint availability between LU and NR.

The simple answer is that there is no difference than from 30yrs ago.You just go to the ticket office window at Kings cross undergound there must be at least a dozen windows all open.As you did in the past you say "can I have a PT return to seven Sisters please" give them the money and you get your return PT to Seven Sisters".I did it last week my self.No different to 35yrs ago.You don't need an oyster or anything to do with them.Simple answer!:roll:

Which will cost £2.35 return.

Priv on oyster will be £0.85 or £0.60 each way depending on the time.

I guess you'll have to forgive me for thinking Seven Sisters-Liverpool St.-Kings Cross-Retford (on a Seven Sisters-Retford '+Any Permitted' ticket) is travelling beyond Zone U1. You'll also have to forgive me for for seeing Seven Sisters in the cross London connection list and thinking there is some sort of implied validity.

Mojo only said there was no validity on a ticket from London Terminals - Seven Sisters ticket (a ticket which was suggested by John@home but then corrected).
