I had mine today. Passed all the assessments. Nothing in particular I can suggest which isn't already mentioned in this thread.

Started with 15 people, DFFT was the killer - only 8 left after that. I was one of 3 people left at the end of the day.

Good luck to anyone attending soon!

Is the DFFT test anything like the practise tests that they said out? And congrats to those who passed stage 1 today

It is the same idea but is more complicated than the practise material. There are more faults to check for.

Hope it went well for the people who had there assessments yesterday and today, I have my stage 1 next Tuesday, it's been quite a few years since I had to study for something, as I probably a bit older than most that have been invited to attend,

Dose anybody know why you need a driving licence for this job?

Carting lorry drivers around the site in minibuses (the buses only have 8 seats so you can drive it on a normal car license)

Without sounding flippant how else would you get to the terminal/depot where you would start your shift?

However you want, taxi if you want to!

Hello everyone, my first post so forgive me if it's all been asked before but I have searched and not found the answers.

I've got past the first hurdle and have the stage 1 assessment in a couple of weeks so have been looking through some of the practice materials here and what I've been sent by Eurotunnel.

I've also read every post in this thread and apart from the assessment days themselves there seems to be a couple of people saying that this isn't a 'real' train driver position as you are just doing the same figure of 8 route over and over again and because of this the training and experience isn't up there with that of a mainline driver.

So if there's anyone out there who is either a Eurotunnel driver or has driven for them and is now driving elsewhere I'd really appreciate the answers to the following questions.

- Is the training up there with mainline driver training and do you become a qualified train driver?
- Would a Eurotunnel driver be able to apply for a qualified driver role at a mainline TOC?

You only become qualified for their network. It is a real train driver position, just like being an underground driver is a real train driver position, it's just that none of the skills are transferable.

I don't think you would be able to apply for a qualified role elsewhere, although if you applied for a trainee role, you would not have to take the initial assessments again as they are the same ones as other companies use and they are stored on the national database.

Also for anyone who was asking and doesn't know - the 2 strikes rule does apply if you fail a Eurotunnel assessment.

According to the signs outside the road traffic act applies to their site.

You might not need a licence to drive on their property but having a licence shows that you are capable of driving the required minibus - otherwise how would they be able to tell you could drive?!

Thats good you all got though , how long do you have to wait to find out ? . Was the MMI as tough as the made it sound ? I passed all my computer test but wasn't allowed to do the MMI as my Wafv results were not higher enough for eurotunnel . So annoying as i know were i went wrong .

I thought it was pretty easy, but that might have been because I did a lot of preparation.
