Hi all

Untill a couple years ago I used to make regular trips from Glasgow Central down to Ayr to visit my partner at the time. On the way my train would pass the Shields Road Depot which had an old Virgin Train carriage sat stationary at the depot.

It eventually disappeared and I was just curious as to how it came to sit at Shields Road for so long and what eventually happened to it?

This is probably directed more to people up in Scotland.

Thanks
Shaun

They were used as fire training vehicles

Not sure where they have moved to now

Are you sure it was at Shields? The virgin coach has been sat at Yoker depot as a fire training vehicle for many a year, and I doubt it would have been visiting the wheel lathe.

In more helpful mode, I remember posting here about the opening of a new Fire Service training facility in Cambuslang which had a railway section. There is an old coach in what looks like Virgin livery. Would that be it?

10256 and 10260 were initially based at Shields. Were both moved to Yoker when Shields was enlarged to take the Class 380s.
