Someone put it another thread, i believe one about FTPE 170s. I think FTPE have diagrammed the first 350 service for around the 21st.

Although it may look bad for TPE if they can't launch their first electric services as early as planned, as long as all the EMUs are up and running in time for May then no harm will be done in the long term.

Yes i think that is what they are hoping for. At the end of the day, the deal took a lot longer to sort out.

From the engineering point of view TPE can always run a borrowed LM 350 for a token run on 8 December if need be, to open the line "on time".
Or (as noted above) Virgin could run a Pendolino along the route.
It's just that the First/TPE marketing depts will be aghast at the prospect. ;)

They still need to do driver training and its reported the ROSCO wants to test them with the LM 350 first. Its been expected the first unit will be in service prior to Xmas but after the timetable change.

Perhaps I've not been paying attention but I understood there had been a succession of technical issues. See-

I understood that they were building an extra set and providing free to DB as delay compensation. Like Derby had to do for the 357's. Of course in Derby's case that was due to incompetent British manufacturing management and workers ( see Captain Deltic and the rest of the British press) which couldn't possibly apply in Germany.

Did you mean Roby, or are they digging up Dore & Totley as well?

Err, station before Huyton from LS whichever it was (and dont get me started on the mid afternoon 3:31 train to Wigan NW being standing room only the whole way), theyve pretty much cleared the length between the two stations apart from where theres bridges and in the two stations diggers were excavating deep exposing former platforms.

Yes that's Roby.
You can see it from Huyton station - only 41 chains between the two.

The press have finally picked up on services moving to the Wigan line and are basically saying Chorley is going to suffer massively. Bad press for the railway despite electrifying the line and buying new units.

The old Roby Platforms have been uncovered and in full view since March this year. Likewise the subway is now fully opertional from one side to the other rather than between Platforms 1 and 2. Also the old trackbed between the stations have been also exposed during that time as well, so nothing new there. I suspect it is Huyton Station is the location were the platforms have been recently uncovered including uncovering the subway.

The platforms at roby we're never buried, just really overgrown. As you say that's now all been cut back.

My mum and dad got the train from huyton earlier today and said that both old platforms are now visible. The front of the station is also all fenced off and work to rebuild the subways seems to be fairly advanced. (They're putting lifts in).
