Bit of a strange one and probably depends on various factors such as the train, it's formation, the weather conditions, gradient etc, but how far could a train roll under its own momentum before it would eventually come to stop?
I was thinking it when approaching Reigate recently, where beyond the station electrification stops... Say you were doing 70mph and shut off and let it roll. How far would a train get?
Just purely curious as it has always amazed me how little power needs to be taken on a train to get pretty far.
