Hi mate,

Congratulations on getting to assessment stage, how long did you wait from applying for job to getting to invite stage and did you do the driver fault finding test or mechanical comprehension as part of the assessment process. Good luck for structured interview.

Many Thanks

Cheers, yep DFFT but no Mechanical Comprehension.
There was 8 of us to start, and from what I gathered most of us applied last year July/September.

Concluded and given a date for a managers interview?

I had the structured interview before my medical, if it helps the courses are apparently starting beginning of September

Not concluded yet mate. Been told to expect notification for the Manager's Interview in the next couple weeks. The assessor did say the next intake would be September and because of this they'd want to hurry things along. That said, he also said if we don't get the nod after the Manager's Interview we wouldn't get called back to finish the assessment (CBI).

We were all given dates on the day of our initial assessments but then again there was only a four week window to when the course was starting. There are issues at the training school so this may be why it's changed

They are running out of trainers I believe Paul is referring to. There were 7 when we started and now there are 2.5ish of them left.

Thanks for that... 5 of us got through the assessment thus far, I suppose any more than this - given what you've said would pose a problem.

Should be fine given that they used to do classes of 12 back in the day.

I think September they are rolling out the iPad classes full time so it's all a bit experimental. I don't think the original was exactly a success but for whatever reason it's the route Southern have chosen to take. I am just glad I done the old style training to be honest.

Sounds ominous, I still have a lot to do yet but I'll be happy with anything in the knowledge that I've been giving the nod. An iPad sounds fancy though!?!

Self learning and something like 800 hours driving by the time you pass out. By time I pass out I will have mustered probably about 300 hours in total.

If the ipad class have finished and passed out before then yes it will be that course, which I will reserve my opinions on. However on speaking with a trainee they're looking at December before passing out and then all the issues from the pilot course need to ironed out and there are quite a few

Wow I didn't realise it would take that long to be honest.

Did anyone hear back from Southern. I got "Unfortunately, your application has not met the required standard ....blah blah blah" for both roles and yet I applied last year and got through to the driver manager interview stage with a similar application. Does anyone know if Southern pulled the plug on these positions?

Got same email saying your application has not met the required standard. Seems harsh as i got through to final interview with another TOC but didnt even get past app stage with southern, but will keep trying for the next role that comes up.
