Peterborough East was where the Northampton and Peterborough line started which is (with the complication of the heritage line) our next stretch.
Barnwell
However, I am most intrigued by the idea of the Peterborough North - Peterborough East - Orton Waterville routing, noting what I said earlier about Peterborough East being on the line that approached Peterborough from the Ely direction.
It's the way a passenger would have done it in the 'old' days. Either by train from Peterborough North to East or on foot. AFAIK the 'direct' connection from Peterborough North onto the Northampton/Rugby lines was only ever for freight

Wasn't Piddington on the Bedford to Northampton line, past the MOD depot, which I had as the station to follow on from after Northampton Bridge Street, leaving two more closed stations on that line, before we enter the final line of this journey, the Bedford to Hitchin line which has five closed stations on it.

That atation, like South Leith, was a terminal station, but I am unaware that there was ever a connection laid to connect both of these.
