No rules you can apply for as many as you want.

You will go straight through to the Managers interview if you have already passed the assessments.

I passed this stage last time with FTPE but it was 3 years ago now and with DBS. I didn't take stage 3 though. I take it assesment passes only last 2 years?

If you have an assessment pass already with no borderline passes then I would think that you will go straight through to the manager's interview which will be after the 26/4/13 when all the assessments have finished.

Do you think thats why some people are still at 'awaiting shortlisting'? Or would TPE have informed those people who have an assessment pass already that they do not need to resit assessments and that they are to be invited to interview once results are known from the impending assessments?

I was right! No need for me to take stage two! Straight to stage 3 as confirmed via an email just now.

All the best for those going later this week.

Chris, when exactly did you pass the tests? The reason i ask is i passed the full drivers assessments 3 years and 4 weeks ago and was told that i have to take all assessments again as they are only valid with TPE for 3 years , even though only a few weeks over there is no leeway . I will be there Friday 11-15a.m by the way.

Does anyone know for sure if the Group Bourdon (GBT) for Stage 2 will be on paper or computer? Am assuming as it's taking place in a hotel it will be pen and paper, which would also keep costs down - however they would need computers for the reactions test in a few weeks anyway...

The last one it was on paper, reaction tests were done two at a time on computers.

I can only see the SCAAT test on the OPC website. Is it definitely going to be group bourdon?

Like I say the OPC website only mentions SCAAT

I have applied for these vacancies.

Having passed the DFFT and holding a recent pass on psychometrics, I am through to the Managers Interviews (which aren't mentioned on the initial e-mail).

Are we thinking around the beginning of May for these interviews?

I'd hazard a guess that people through to stage 2 will sit a paper version of the Group Bourdon Concentration Test, as I took the same test at the OPC in Watford on 19th March.

Someone also mentioned applying for two TOC's at once. There is no problem with doing that ;)

In regard to the paper version of the GBT, if you reach part way along a line when the time limit is reached, how do the assessors know the point that you reached? If they don't then any groups that remain along the rest of the line could be construed as omissions.

Have you had an email benjy_b stating your through to the managers interview? I'm a bit in limbo at the moment. I passed a private day with DBS in Oct but I thought I had a borderline with the TRP and was expecting to have to resit it.
Hope I've not been forgotten about:(
Has anybody else ever been in my situation??

I would hazard a guess that they would discard that line, should it not be completed.

I received an email to confirm I would be receiving an invite to a manager interview once the dates are confirmed. I took my psychometrics through East Coast who only accept higher than average passes. I believe it is marked A, B and C. C being borderline, which most TOC's won't accept anymore.

Hi Benjy B, can i ask you when you received your e-mail inviting you to interview?

And obviously best of luck to you.

I was there this morning.

It was easy enough, although some tit working everything out under his breath was doing my nut in, I really should of said something.

The assessor said that TPE should let us know on Monday whether we have been sucessful or not.

Phew! I was worried it was me! I would have hated that - i know you can get caught up in it but people should think about others surely!

I thought that she said the results would take 7 days?

I was there today and was surprised at the number of spare seats especially as some candidates did not need to sit some of the tests.

She said that the results would be with Transpennine on Monday after the tests tomorrow are done. Yeah a few empty seats - possibly a fair few didn't need to sit including the lass who'd sat them yesterday!

I was there this afternoon , and I ended up in the same seat I was in for the DFFT (also sat next to the same bloke too... nice fella from Newcastle). Complete opposite to spare seats : she had too many people in the room and had to ask someone to attend tomorrow instead .... good on him he was a local fella who volunteered ! Also it didn't start till around 1420 (scheduled for 1345) so wasn't as smooth a start as I was expecting.

I found the tests not too bad , no idea how I fared really but I THINK I did ok.... but like my pa always said , "Don't worry about anything if there's nothing you can do about it"..... so I'm not now, what will be will be !

Good luck anyone still to go.

I was there this afternoon also, as Clarky says there were too many people and not enough TRP booklets to go around. The poor OPC woman had her work cut out and could have done with an assistant, hence the very late start, but she didn't let it faze her and coped well.

EDIT - In light of the negative reaction to the information I posted here earlier, I've decided to remove the 'offending' bit. I'm surprised by the reaction of course, but with all opinion being 'against' and none 'for', I feel I should act accordingly.

I assume that those who needlessly requoted my text will follow suit and edit their posts.

chrisdmadd - I can assure you I'm not stupid! It was a selfless act to try and help a few people out, just as I was helped out by those who made it possible for me to download and practice GBT or the Reactions Test. I have every confidence in my abilities and do not for one minute view anybody currently sitting these tests as an "opponent"; some do as it transpires, but I personally don't. Those candidates who come out on top after the entire selection process will have got there on their own merits, not because I gave them a few pointers.

I presume that you won't ever be taking on an instructional role during your career, you wouldn't want any of your students to get ahead of you in this fiercely-contested industry now would you.

Pete H & Merrydown - I think you misunderstand the (now deleted) point I was trying to make. In a multiple choice exam where there is no negative marking, it is better to give an answer rather than leave it blank, therefore anyone who didn't answer ALL 43 questions today has potentially sacrificed a few valuable marks. I answered 30 accurately and then randomly answered the other 13 in the last minute without even looking at the dials, so I may have picked up 3 or 4 additional marks free of charge as it were. I learned that many years ago so am surprised it's an unfamiliar tactic to some.

So my apologies go out to anyone whom I may have upset with my earlier information, but I make no apology for trying to help someone out whenever I can, I even stayed behind to help out the OPC rep with her trial psychometric test. She assured us 'volunteers' that it did not form part of the overall process but you just never know.

In regard to the tests for anyone going tomorrow, GBT is paper-based on a large fan-fold form with around 20 lines per section. You're asked to press hard when making your mark as there's a carbon sheet and second paper sheet underneath.

For TRP, firstly there's the memory test with a passage of information that you have 5 minutes to read and then answer 18 questions in 7 mins. There's some tricky little questions which require a bit of thought so read the passage carefully.

Secondly there's the dials and pointers. The most important thing to note is that, unlike the practice test in the book that was handed out at the DFFT stage, there are 4 dials, not 3. Each dial consists of 4 segments, 3 of varying shades of grey and a white one. In the practice tests, (with white, black and grey segments) I'd worked out that you could disregard the black segment (2nd priority) and arrive quicker at the correct answer by just getting the white and grey segments (1st and 3rd priority) in order. Unfortunately the real test with its 4 segments threw my earlier theory out of the window.

You have 8 minutes and 43 multiple choice answers and the time flies by. As there's no negative marking I would recommend spending 7 minutes working accurately and then the last minute selecting answers totally at random all the way up to 43.

EDIT - I forgot to mention that on the dials test, some of the arrows are in the same shaded segment as the adjacent dial, so they also contain numbers to decide priotity.

Hope this helps.

Hmm, not sure I'd recommend the guessing game.

I worked through steadily and completed roughly 2/3 of that assessment, fairly confident that they were all correct although disappointed not to have finished. I found out during week two of the driver training course that I got a yellow/borderline green pass.

Yellow is average for candidates, green is above the average.

Why not just do the tests for everyone.................. too much information

I'm luckily already passed this stage but I did find it strange that flyboy wanted to give so much away about the test. I'm not sure whether its an act of pure honesty and generosity or just stupidity! I'd never want to give my opponents a head start on myself in an industry that is so fiercely contested as this one.

Crazy in my mind and I can see why it provoked a reaction.

I can just imagine Schumacher back in the day slowing down and yelling at a close second diamon hill "slow down hill there's a slippy spot on the track up ahead"

Is it any different mate to everyone downloading the Group Bourdon Tool, and the reactions test and practising for hours on end ??
IMO, that's still cheating and giving an advantage to people who ordinarily may not pass the test first time on the first attempt. And the reason why the TOC's might end up taking on people who really shouldn't be there.
Cast the first stone etc etc !!!!

I know what your saying and I'm not wanting to turn this into a heated debate but look at the mechanical comprehension test. How many people would have passed that with out revising online?

It does need changing but all that would happen is pass marks would just be a lot lower.
