I would if it didn't take me over 6 hours and £50 to get there! :-x

LMFAO! Where the hell did you come from? Cause I don't believe Oxford to Staines is 6hrs. I mean, I can get from Buxton to Weymouth in about 6hrs.

And...you spent £50 to meet the constipated melon and 777fred? Why?

I was on about Ascots Pembroke Dock Meeting!
Look for me and my dad on the Family Railcard Banbury - Pembroke Dock = £59.50
Times :
BANBURY 11:25 Train VIRGIN TRAINS
BIRMINGHAM NEW STREET 12:15 12:30 Train CENTRAL TRAINS
NEWPORT GWENT 14:04 14:37 Train ARRIVA TRAINS WALES
SWANSEA 15:56 16:05 Train ARRIVA TRAINS WALES
PEMBROKE DOCK 18:35

 Mad or what!

Firstly, if it takes hours to get there, that's the whole point - to bash an HST! The longer the better ;) I have a good journey back on HSTs all the way from Pembroke Dock to Manchester:grin:

Instead of moaning at the walk-on fare, why not purchase advance singles?

The full adult fare is £12 each way from Leamington Spa to Pembroke (change at Reading - going via Birmingham is daft). 1 FAM + 1CHFAM is £10.20 each way, so that's £20.40. return for both of you. Obviously those fares will sell out soon, I'd not leave it beyond tomorrow to guarantee that price. They are currently available, however!

(Before you say "But I live in Banbury", yes I know that, but Virgin are cheaper than FGW for advance purchase. The opposite applies for walk-on).

Correction, buy this:-

From: Warwick
To: Pembroke Dock

Via: Reading

Outward Travel after: 0700
Return Travel after: 1445

if you do EXACTLY that, it will give you:

WARWICK 07:09 Train CHILTERN RAILWAYS
BANBURY 07:33 07:55 Train VIRGIN TRAINS
READING STATION 08:38 09:11 Train FIRST GREAT WESTERN
PEMBROKE DOCK 14:09

PEMBROKE DOCK 15:05 Train FIRST GREAT WESTERN
READING STATION 19:57 20:10 Train VIRGIN TRAINS
BANBURY 20:52 21:19 Train CHILTERN RAILWAYS
WARWICK 21:43

The price of that is £24 return (adult), or £12 return (child), £22 return for 1 adult + 1 child (Family Railcard).

Obviously, you do not bother with the Warwick-Banbury train.

You will then only take approx 45 mins to get to/from the meet as the meet starts at Reading. You can then not complain at how long it takes to get there, OR the price! No excuses now ;)

That would, indeed, be mad. We could try waving to you at somewhere like Port Talbot or wherever we pass you! See my post above for a less insane option ;)

I'll be going on a simple SVR to the Dock I daresay. I could do it with a HFD - CDF and a CDF - PD CDR combo, but that saves a little over £1, not worth the hassle!

What a silly route to take.

Going via Reading is far more inteligent. Besides the idea of the meet is to bash the 0845 Paddington-Pembroke Dock ;)

For that price, I can get fro Sheffield to Pembroke Dock on combo CDR/SVR without a railcard
