Try the shop on Heslington Road instead, they normally have some of the papers which have the tokens (as no-one local ever buys them). Failing that, Smiths either on Coney Street or at the station.

Awesome, thanks, Heslington Road sounds good to me :D

I emailed RSH, and they're trying to fob me off - trying to claim I didn't claim in time...

That's what the email from Babs @ RSH told me - 1 day after she'd emailed to say they'd added the voucher to my account (which is still there).

My email was from "Babs" too. Obviously "Babs" is some kind bot. I sent a reply; I don't know if will do any good.

Is this exactly the same email you received?

Dear Mr West,

Thank you for your email.

The codes were supplied by The Sun newspaper. There were 40,000 e-vouchers available in total and have now all been allocated.

The reason the code is not converting into an e-voucher is due to the fact there are no more e-vouchers left.

The last date to enter the code was the 02/04/2013.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Kind Regards

Babs
I really dislike it when companies don't even bother to read the correspondence you send them and just send you an identikit auto-email.

Also why does it say that last day to enter the code is the 2nd of April??

No more e-vouchers left? It seems that the system is really random. I converted one today (although two more codes failed before this one) about two hours ago.

What is the point with "the last date to enter the code was the 02/04/2013" if all e-vouchers are gone, or do they mean Feb 4th?

The Promotion ran from Saturday 26th January 2013. There were 30,000 £10 Redspottedhanky.com e-vouchers available to be given away while stocks last.

Due to popular demand we released a further 10,000 e-vouchers on the 28th January 2013.

The e-vouchers have now all been allocated and the Promotion has ended.

Unfortunately on this occasion you have been unsuccessful.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

I think 02/04 was a typo (so maybe Babs is not a bot??) as the real date was supposed to be 02/02.

It is of course rubbish. The reason why the codes do not work is not because they 'ran out' but because people found ways around the system and published a huge pile of codes online. That means those of us with legitimately allocated codes had them used by others. I received a code and immediatly tried to add it to my account with no luck.

The system was fundamentally flawed and expoited by others, spoiling it for those of us who simply requested and received a single code and would have been happy with the £9.50.

SWT have a Rainbow Day from Salisbury on Saturday 23rd February. £10 for unlimited travel across SWT on that day. Tickets can only be purchased from Salisbury station between 20th-23rd February after printing and presenting the online voucher.

http://www.southwesttrains.co.uk/rainbowday.aspx

Not the best day to have a promotion though. Going to be busy at Twickenham. England v France Six Nations that day.

Dear Mr West,

Thank you for your email.

Please accept my sincere apologies regarding the errors you have experienced regarding this voucher.

We have been experiencing unexpected errors with the codes provided and because of this some codes are showing as redeemed.

We will be happy to add en e-voucher to the value of £9.50 to your account this will be valid until July 26th 2013 in place of the code provided.

You will be able to view and use this voucher 24 hours.

In order to use the voucher, when upon the payment page you will need to tick the voucher tick box. As long as this box is ticked, it will be used as payment or part payment towards your ticket.

I apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank you for taking the time to contact us.

Kind regards,

Babs

I now have my £9.50 voucher. :D

I can't believe they've got one person answering customer services emails called "Babs". No doubt it's a team of people and they all use the pseudonym "Babs" for some reason known only to themselves....

Says on the RSH Facebook page that it's getting overloaded. What a surprise!

Worked ok for me, think you just have to keep trying.

Not sure if it has been mentioned yet (and not strictly online) but at the start of March the Scottish Sun is issuing a voucher for £9.50 single between any two stations in Scotland.

Guess when mine expires? March 16!

I'd recommend getting one that overlaps slightly then.

If you bought yours online, then you can renew it up to a month in advance, so you can take advantage of the offer by renewing. It will then expire on 16 March 2014, no matter when you renew.

If you bought yours at the station, then you can buy a new one slightly before the expiry date online. You'll get an extra week anyway to account for the delivery time, so e.g. if you buy yours on 9 March, it will expire around 16 March 2014.

Spot on!

Many thanks for the tip off.

Well I got my tokens OK, but Northern won't let me register on their site !<D<D

I fill in the form, send it off, and absolutely nothing happens !

------------------------------

Now received automated response from customer services "we aim to respond to all enquiries within 20 days " - not much use since I want to use the tokens on Saturday !!

I managed to register on their site ok, but that was a little while ago. I tried downloading a form and interestingly, it didn't download as a PDF file, I'm not sure what it downloaded as actually, my computer just described it as 'a file'. Changed the extension to .pdf and it worked ok though, just a warning for anyone trying to use it.

If the worst comes to the worst martinsh, I can email you my form. It's got my email on it, but you can just scribble that out and replace it with your own (or just use my email address, they'll never know it's not yours) and use that. Just tell me if you want me to :P

I've had a look and cannot find any discounted tickets for travelling between Rugby and Watford, which seems odd as they have always been included in previous LM sales. :-?

There are sales tickets from RUG-NMP and NMP-WFJ which add up to a cheaper price than buying a direct ticket so looks like I'll be doing that for the journeys I need to make.
