Network rail said it was repaired and that no one was put at risk. BBC news somewhere posting from phone so cant get it up right now.
Radio York are reporting that another gap, this time a "six inch gap" appeared "near Selby" 3 weeks ago and that trains travelled "at over 100mph" over this gap....
Does anyone know from where the steel for the rails was sourced? UK with full documentation, or some other source...
Most rails for NR are rolled here in Britain it was done at Workington now Corby, with some imported from France, Germany, Switzerland and Italy.
I think you will find its Scunthorpe that replaced Workington, as we if not they seem to be doing a lot of replacement of long welded rails in that are over the past couple of years.
How big is the gap that the train has to 'jump' at Newark flat crossing?
