Why does everyone see 37s as the best thing since butter

Nobody seems to mention the 20s. Far more intersting design and sound!!

Well yer, but you rarely find them on the mainline - on tours I mean. The one a few weeks ago looked great, but not many tour opperators will pay the big prices for locos that the likes of EWS and DRS charge, so they are rarely out. Pathfinder seem to be the only ones.

I need to bash a 20 (or two!) at some point...:razz:

Well 37s are a mainly loco, no girly whistle when you can have a manly ROAR from a 37, 37s best thing since sliced bread

...try and experience a few 56s, 58s and to a lesser extent 60s pulling a decent load (sadly only available to 'experience' on DVD now). That'll get you away from 37s...

Ahh 58s, nice locos, great idea about the modular design, just a shame about the problems they had.

56s are great locos, used to be a fantastic sight/sound thrashing up to Barnetby from Wrawby junction!

it was only a minor traction motor fire and as I understand 47826 has been running about under its own power at Carnforth (with only 5 traction motors??)...

It has NOT been moving under its own power at CS. It is currently dumped there, and the engine room is filthy with splattered oil and grime. She should be alive & kicking again within the month though. Which is good for WCRC, who are pretty desparate on the loco-front atm- apparently they are now beggining to regret not applying for any temporary exemptions to OTMR.

As I mentioned on WNXX, while 826 was at Beattock, it appears the headboard, "The Green Express" has either been removed by someone helpful for safe storage, or more likely that it has been nicked - there are two Green Express headboards, one of which was on the Stratford tour last Sat, but the other is still missing - If you have any idea where this is- or notice it on E-bay or being flogged elsewhere, please contact WCRC, or Green Express Railtours immediately.
