Major was a very weak PM though, he was very easily influenced and basically anyone and everyone, especially in his Cabinet, could twist him a lot.
Not referring to Edwina Currie are you...

Can you imagine how annoying it would be if Florida was still holding the key to the final outcome of the 2012 election result. Still no news as I write.
Why is it taking so long ?

As much as I despise Blair I have to be honest and say that I respect him in a way, along with Thatcher and Bush Jr in the US, because they didn't let anyone tell them what to do - in a way they were true leaders, determined and confident...
I am wary of believing anything I'm told
Dig on the internet but in short there are severe doubts as to his:
Paternity
Place of Birth (and thus elegibility for the office of President)
College Record
Health/Drug dependency
and much, much more...
I think most people this side of the pond are going to get a big surprise when Obama crashes and burns!
He's totally lost his heartland among black voters in Chicago where he is universally derided as "Bath House Barry" (do the research!)
No it's off to Hawaii in January for Michelle and Barry!
Me too. Particularly things like this:
Yes I got that one wrong but not by a very big margin.
Given it looks like Obama has won Florida it is rather a big margin, very comfortable in fact. People can rattle on about the popular vote but it means nothing.
Was it not said that Obama had won more of the popular vote than Romney ?
He did but he only won by 2% which out of one hundred and nineteen million votes cast for the two candidates is a pretty tiny margin of victory. But as YorkshrieRider alludes to it doesn't matter because in the Electoral College it was a drubbing.

Even completely one-sided electoral colleges don't translate to such a big margin in the popular vote; like in 1984 when Reagan defeated Mondale by 525 to 13, Reagan only got 58.8% of the vote.
Which just adds to the list of reasons why I don't like the Electoral College as a system![]()

I must admit, I'd have expected turnout to be higher, given a population of around 350 million.
The number of registered voters in the US is 207 million. (The number of eligible voters is around 245m.)
Managed to find a full list of the candidates standing in Florida and find there is one called Roseanne Barr. Is she the same person who used to have her own situation comedy TV series quite some time ago ?
That's interesting. Is she standing for any particular party ? TBH I think "the" Roseanne Barr is still well known enough over here to have been mentioned in the papers (or at least the showbiz columns) had she been standing.
I would expect Paul Ryan for the Republicans, he's young, energetic and I actually found him quite a likeable person, as a character he's strikes me as a white Obama.
If you ignore all the misogyny and homophobia in his rhetoric...
Hillary Clinton for the Democrats anyone? (She'll only be 69 by then, quite a bit younger than many candidates have been.)
I'd say that is an absolute certainty next time around.
If "Arnie" was not ineligible (by birthplace) it is my belief he could have become President.

why not, it didn't stop Obama!![]()
