Out of interest do you watch anything on Channel 4, because that also receives some licence money

Hardly anything, I suppose if I wanted to watch some foul mouthed cook or some immature ignorant wannabees it would be just up my street.

I am quite content for the BBC to be made available via advertising or pay-tv to those that might like its institutionally left wing pro-Europe anti-English agenda.

Let it stand on its own feet financially like every other broadcaster.

Oh no they don't!!!!
The F1 presenters are like Mr Gay UK and their Motogp commentary team is not even in the same league as Eurosports. So much so that we often wait to watch the delayed race an hour later!

Yes yourself and five others while millions watch it on BBC :p

It appears your credibility has just left the building. If the BBC is institutionally left wing why do trade unions get such a bad press (especially the RMT)?

The licence fee is not a compulsory tax. You may have had an argument in the past when there was no such thing as catch up tv but these days there is plenty of content online.
With adverts you either lose 1/3 of the running time or you lose quality to pander to the lowest common denominator (for ad revenue). You need only look at US "news" to see the devastating effect ad revenues cause.

When all said and done I'd be happy enough if BBC TV got rid of all sport as long as it was available on BBC Radio.

Because, when they prance about on the national stage (as opposed to doing their proper job, locally) they give the impression of dinosaurs from the 70s? I certainly detect an increasing anti-government bias in BBC current affairs reporting, particularly in their willingness to report Labour spokesmen at length when no government spokesman is available. Still, give them enough rope....

And yet you've got other people claiming the BBC is biased TOWARDS the government...

If the government can't be bothered to put a spokesperson forward and Labour can that's hardly the BBC's fault

And WTF does "prance about on the national stage" mean?

Have you forgotten the anti-government bias in BBC current affairs reporting when Labour were in office?

Not seen that recently, since about 1975.

No...but following a bald statement of "The government today announced.." with three minutes of Yvette Cooper (or similar clone) is hardly balance.

What is the purpose of a Trade Union? Is it to protect the interests of its members, or to attempt to organise national campaigns to oppose the entire programme of an elected government? If one (rightly) objects to the influence of "Big Business" in the corridors of power, then one must see that these union leaders have no place there either. They are posturing, pretending that they have something sensible to say, but hankering back to the glory days of Wilson and Callaghan. And if that does not justify my description, then I am a monkey's uncle!

No? Recently.*

It's up to the government to put forward someone to interview. The view of the Opposition is important to hear.*

I thought you were talking about the BBC.*
