Hello

How does the railway rehabilitate an employee who was previously in a safety-critical role but lost his hearing in one ear which is now permanent? He is coming to see me as a patient and I'm genuinely interested. Obviously I will ask him

Thanks for you help
Thank heaven the heavens opened and rain finally fell on the parched ground, hopefully bringing relief to those who were trying to keep the wildfires in check in our part of England.

Thanks for your response in the Bedford thread - don't want to clog the info up with this but grateful for taking the time.
Hi, regarding your article about Whitby station. You can add to your list of visiting traction- DEMU 1001 was hired by Northern approx 25 years ago and worked the Whitby branch exclusively for a good few months! You can also add class 119 to the list, used during the 'Pacer crisis' in the late '80s. I'm 99% certain class 105 reached Whitby too. HTIOU

There's going to be a Forum meal in Hebden Bridge - only 55 minutes by train from Preston - on either Friday 13th or Tuesday 17th February - exact date to be decided imminently. If interested, contact @yorkie asap.

Yorkie contacted me. I will drive as I am trying not to drink alcohol January and February!

Excellent. I've long since given up trying not to drink alcohol in January and February. I feel a strong need to keep our struggling pubs in business....or that's my excuse anyway! Looking forward to meeting you next month!
MKB Although there are no Advance tickets from Nuneton to Manchester it is sometimes possible to split at Stockport, although I think the return versions are still pricy.

Hi there. Thanks for that. I have use NUN-SPT Advance tickets a few times. I didn't want to say that on the thread as I'm worried Avanti may have overlooked that they haven't removed those ones!

Regards, Martin.
I've had an email from then today, saying that printed edition will not be published until 27/02/26 - a 'Spring' edition. There will be news about a December digital edition next week. It looks as though they are in trouble, unfortunately.
Does anybody know what is going on with the European Rail Timetable [formerly Thomas Cook]?

Neither the Dec 2025 digital edition nor the Winter 2025-6 printed editions are on sale as yet.

They have had a Black Friday 'sale' for weeks, selling off old timetables and books, while the November digital edition pretty much becomes obsolete this weekend with the Europe-wide timetable change.

Strange.

I wrote to them last week, and they wrote back citing 'production difficulties' and that they would be on sale soon. Seems very strange - the previous owner always had December and Winter editions on sale early, even if they couldn't be despatched straight away.
Hi Mike,

For some reason I can't see the "Football" thread heading when I go to

Home ... Forums ... Other Forums ... General Discussion

So I have to search for some of my recent posts to get into it.

Have you any idea why Football has become invisible to me?

Best regards

Pete

Hi Pete,

That's an odd one! Can you see other threads in the same forum OK?

Have you possibly, probably inadvertently, ignored the original thread poster? Have seen that happening on other fora.
Hi. I don't suppose you have more of the TfW 398 videos per chance?

Unfortunately no longer in Wales, nor the UK, and missing all of these changes in the modern era... I still remember the introduction of the 150s as being a huge thing...so, seeing your videos of my old childhood haunting grounds (eg: Pontypridd, Devil's bridge between Trefforest and Tonteg etc!) is really fantastic!

I don't I'm afraid. I haven't been out hunting them recently. I understand testing is about to ramp up, so if I did I will share them on the group

I am trying to book Sicily sleeper via TrenItalia. It wants an issuing province and municipality province next to passport id. Any idea what I am supposed to write in these boxes? It doesn't like London. Can't get past this page until I write something it likes. Thanks.

Daft question, but you have got the language on their website set to English haven’t you? I’ve not had any such issues previously.
