Zone 2 to London terminals

I have a 1st class Z2-6 travelcard. Need to get to Waterloo and then return via London Bridge. Do i need a single from Vauxhall - Waterloo and a single from London bridge - New Cross gate, or is there a better way?

A single from Vauxhall to New Cross Gate would do the job at £3.10. Break of journey is permitted.

The £3.10 Vauxhall - New Cross Gate Single is issued as "LONDON TERMINALS - NEW CROSS GATE". I agree that it is valid for Standard travel and, used together with the First Class Zone 2-6 Travelcard, is valid on trains which do not stop at Vauxhall and/or New Cross Gate.

But there is no corresponding First Class fare between Vauxhall and New Cross Gate.

It may be easier to buy a single Clapham Junction - New Cross Gate which is the same price.

You can combine tickets without calling at the station where you change tickets if one is a season ticket and the other(s) are not - c.f. NRCoC section 19c

Not quite. When used with a 1st class Guildford - London Zones 2-6 Travelcard season ticket, a single from Clapham Junction to New Cross Gate will allow you to go fast from Guildford to Waterloo and fast from London Bridge to East Croydon. You only need a return if you also want to go from East Croydon to London Bridge and Waterloo to Clapham Junction.

But this doesn't let you travel in First Class. There are no First Class fares Clapham Junction to New Cross Gate.

Ah I get it how long is the break of journey? I will be in London for a few hours. i did ask a SWT guard and he said he wouldnt be bothered by me not getting up at Vauxhall and moving into standard.

Assuming you have a day ticket it's until 0429 the following day. I'm not too sure so corrections welcome!

Am i allowed to exit or do i have to take the train from Waterloo east?

As long as you like on the day. You can exit from Waterloo and don't need to set foot on another station until departure from London Bridge if you don't want to!

Once you pass through Vauxhall, though if it was me I'd have a word with the guard along the lines of 'I've got these tickets, am I alright to stay in first until Waterloo or do I need to move at somepoint?'. I rather suspect they'll not bother asking you to move.

Bear in mind that if you get the Clapham Junction to Lewisham ticket you won't have to move as it's a 1st class one.
