Zone 1-2 Travelcard Discount Query

Afternoon all,

I am currently in the process of relocating to London and require a Zone 1-2 annual travel card but I am somewhat confused as to 16-25 young persons discount. Is this applicable on an annual travel card or is it for single journeys? If it is applicable, what is the process involved it obtaining one? Im very unfamiliar with the tube and Oyster etc so its all very new!!

You can't get railcard discounts on season tickets (which is what an annual Travelcard is).

Hi no discount is applied to what is basically a season ticket.

You cannot railcard-discount any travelcard that lasts longer than a day (weekly, monthly, annual etc).

You can, however, get a London Underground ticket office to load your 16-25 railcard onto your Oyster card, so that if you ever make journeys outside of Zones 1-2, your off-peak Pay as you Go fares will be discounted.

Also, if you tell us where you're moving to, where you will be commuting to, and the times that you will be traveling, we may be able to suggest a cheaper ticket than a Z1-2 travelcard.

Im moving to Acton so will be looking to commute from North Acton into Chancery Lane daily. Time-wise, i'll be looking at 8.15 in and 6.15 back out again so peak times really.

OK. If you only expect to make 5 return commutes a week and nothing else then you will save a tiny bit by using PAYG. However, it's pretty close, so one extra journey a week, even a bus, will make the travelcard worthwhile.
