As has been mentioned on a number of other now-closed threads in passing, Derbyshire operator Yourbus ceased trading last October.

Their website has now been taken down, but there's an archived page at https://web.archive.org/web/20191004085556/http://www.catchyourbus.co.uk/ containing the announcement about the company ceasing trading. It says any updates regarding genie card holders will be issued in due course.

Does anyone know if any arrangements have been made for genie card holders to obtain refunds on the remaining credit or on any tickets stored on their cards, or to transfer their remaining balances to smartcards of other operators in the area?

I have a genie card with probably about £2-£3 of unused credit on it. I used to use it regularly when Yourbus operated the 140/141/142 Alfreton/Ripley-Matlock service, but the company lost the contract for those routes to Little's Travel in late 2015. I then contacted Yourbus to ask about getting a refund of the remaining credit on my card, and they said I would need to post it to their head office in Heanor to do this, but I never got round to doing so until now.

I am guessing that the answer is probably no, and I will just have to grit my teeth and accept that I've lost £2-£3 down the drain. My fault for not sorting it out sooner.

£2-£3 isn't the end of the world. I probably wouldn't have bothered trying for a refund for such a small amount.

I would imagine you'd need to register as a creditor of the company. Though the likely hood of getting anything other than pennies (if that) is remote. As an unsecured creditor you'll be far down the list of people that get paid by whatever money is left or can be raised through liquidation.

£3 put it this way. By the time you have sent any paperwork. The postage will be more than the 3 pounds.
