I've had a white iPhone 4S for the past two years. It's been a great phone, and it is still fast and quick, but the battery on it is absolutely horrendous (a drink in Wetherspoon's could probably last longer quite frankly) and when I'm on 3G it is very slow loading up pages. Unfortunately, these two negative factors have been the bain of my life for around six months now, and I'm very pleased to say that I'll be getting the Samung Galaxy Note III on 2nd September. I'm very excited; it is a fantastic looking phone, and it is so different. The iPhone is so just common now, every single bugger that walks down the street has one; I like to be different from everybody else. My contract with Vodafone ends on 9th November but you can upgrade 90 days before, which is in fact on Monday (26th), but I'm going to wait until 2nd September which is when the Samsung Galaxy Note III is being released. I cannot wait!

The 4s is a great 'phone' which is why a lot of folk have them. I like to be different too so bought mine for cash rather than take out a contract! You're right about the battery life, its a real pain, I just about get a day out of it if I'm out and about.

I have an iPhone 4S and I love it, I has a 3G before and just find them so intuitive. I'm not an Apple fanboy tho, I'm not keen on Macs and I hate iTunes. I've also got a 5 for a work phone, but it sits in a drawer in my desk.

I am not sure it will be released then. As far as I'm aware, it's being announced officially in Germany at IFA on the first press day (Sept 4th) and is unlikely to be on sale straight away.

Should be a monster though. I'm 95% certain the company will send me out to IFA so I'll be checking that out and the new Sony phone, codename Honami, with a 20MP camera.

Upgraded my mobile package (needed more minutes), which also gave me a data allowance, so I though I'd better upgrade from my 6310i.

Bought a Huawei Y300 smartphone for £120 and swapped my SIM card over.

Seems to run fine and lots of features, battery life 1 or maybe 2 days at a stretch.

I am also part of the iPhone 4S owners club Had mine for nearly 2 years now, but I intend to keep it as I need to cut my outgoings so once my contract end at the end of October I will be switching to a Sim only contract (Three has one which suits me for only £9.90 per month!)

Yes the battery life isn't great, but that's the case on most smartphones now, it's not a big deal taking the charger along when using it intensively so it can be charged, otherwise it easily lasts the day for me with normal use!

I had a case with an integrated battery for my old iPhone and now have one for my Android phone. It's about the only way you'll get a modern smartphone to last a full day with moderate to heavy usage. The screen is probably the biggest drain and on those sunny days, the brightness is usually way up and kills the battery dead quick

Obviously the CPU is a drain too, but that's dependent on what you're doing. A lot of my stuff is web browsing, social networking and Tapatalk.

It does make the phone bulkier and nearly twice the weight, but phones are so light these days that if it ends up around 200-220g, it's still manageable.

Just out of interest, did anyone but me ever have an iPhone 2G?

Also, as people say, the battery on an iPhone is awful but I've found that the battery is brilliant in my iPad. I'm not sure why there's a huge difference?

There is more room for a bigger battery in an iPad.

Not only do tablets have bigger batteries, but they don't need to communicate with a mobile network all the time to be ready to receive calls and texts. Assuming you don't get the one with a SIM slot for mobile data.
