It's making you feel old?

Well...

I can just about remember when I was very small ( and I mean as in pushchair small! ) going on BR's green EPBs and SUBs and on the District Line proper red CO/CP stock trains... *sigh*

Now I feel very young lol!

I remember going on the trains to Barmouth (from the Midlands) as a very young lad in the late 80s, and also getting the trains from there to Tywyn and Harlech.

Earliest I can remember (although certainly not my first) was a green liveried class 46 between Belper and Derby in 1974. Also around that time I remember travelling on the Heysham boat train from Skipton, in a sizzling steam heated mk I first class compo behind a 31 IIRR. We had our pyjamas on under our clothes so we could quickly get to bed in the cabins on the boat to Belfast. Fantastic times.

The odds are that it was a Provincial 143 on a Sunderland to Newcastle run: Used to be a regular trip when I was a child, so the collective memory of numerous such trips is engrained into my memory, though I doubt I can remember the very first journey.

It would have been something from Cambridge, I lived there until I was 2 and my parent didn't (and still don't) drive) Ealiest I can vaguely remember is Hatfield to WGC on a 312 back in the late 70s

Old? I can remember an LMS passenger train standing at the Wirksworth platform at Duffield.

My first ride i remember was in in 1995 on an intercity HST to Llandudo Junction, as my uncle informed me as a 5 year old i caused quite a fuss and was extremely excited by being on a HST lol!

Not sure to be honest

I know I travelled to Winnersh aged 5 (Shoeburyness - Barking - Embankment - Waterloo - Winnersh; no Jubilee extension back then). I don't remember any journeys before that but I had apparently been to Tilbury Riverside on a train, even though it closed before the above journey. EDIT: My father reaffirmed over the weekend. Apparently, I went there "many times", and even travelled on the ferry to Gravesend. To quote my sentiments yesterday, "You mean last summer wasn't my first time?"

My first train journey was in February 1992, I traveled from Romford to Great Ormond Street Hospital, (Holborn), all I remember is I caused a fuss as I was only a couple of years old. Being I was born in 1989.

I'd forgotten the 312s. I remember them having loads of doors, far too heavy and with the handle too high up for me to open. Last time I travelled on one was the result of a Class 47 (presumably on a fast from Peterborough) breaking down somewhere around Welwyn North. Lots of people got out, then the train left very slowly over the viaduct. Then we all got into a 312, and I had to sit on my mum's lap, because it was a bit crowded. Someone pointed out the Duff in the sidings at WGC as we passed.

Ive been told it was around 1981/2 on a summer Saturday , its was on the Sheffield Midland - Cleethorpes via Gainsborough train

It must've been 1989 on a sleeper service from Kings X to Edinburgh. Can't remember much else, other than I was petrified of standing on the corridor connections in motion as they bounced around so much and my mother had to lift me over them as the guard wrestled with my newborn sisters pushchair.

A steam train at paignton, i was far too young to know what type of locomotive it was but i do remember the devon belle observation saloon car

It must have been the early 1950's and we had come from the ferry to Holyhead when it seemed very dark to me and I was very tired and we had to make our way to Holyhead railway station, where this huge engine with lots of steam coming from it was in front of the train. I must have been 5 or 6 years old at the time.
