Basically it's bringing the DLR stock in line with the current tube/Overground/Tramlink stock. The same as your fictitious DLR unit in LO livery earlier in the thread, but instead of LO orange you'd use the turquoise base colour of the DLR roundel on the cabs and doors. Oh and to be finicky, a thin blue stripe above the blue skirt!

I'm surprised TfL didn't at least order the newest DLR stock in this livery, rather than continue with the red and wavy blue lines.

Looking at these pics (not mine) from Wikipedia of the LU, LO and LT family of liveries you can still see minor differences in the way that the liveries are applied:

The livery on the 395s look nothing like any of the liveries on the First traction anyway so I don't know where you're coming from with that.

The livery on the 395s is far more trendy and cool then the former Connex livery which has just got different wording on it.

Yh sorry. I thought the 395 was more purple than blue. Must have seen it in a birght light. If it were purple-ish it would look like a First Train with violet doors instead of pink.

Tbh i don't like the 1st liveries. Excepet for Local Lines, which is quite a interesting idea. They look very much the same. All of them just with slightly different vinyls.

As for liveries looking the same, I guess you don't like NX, Stagecoach either as their TOCs share the same paint scheme! Which is done for the marketing purpose of giving your brand recognisation amongst possible users who might not be aware of who they are.

Take First for example, back in 1999 when they had various bus companies under their control, they decided on a single livery which would become instantly recognisnable with that local firm, hence when the user gets a good service or a bad service it can reflect on the owning group which is why some liveries look the same.

Hmm...I do wish the trams were painted in Overground livery. Tramlink livery is rancid in the flesh!

irionicly thats it from what ive heard...funny though how XC has a bad reputation aswell which the media still managed to pick up upon and arriva still retains its bad reputation here...

True...but what i cant see is how removing the shop actually provides any extra seats...simple answer...it dosent...

The Shops on XC have been removed due to xc claing they had research from FGW saying that custemers prefer a onboard trolley service to a shop / buffet...BOLLOCKS...

XC have only actually increased capacity in the voyagers by removing a table or 2 and re shuffling the seats in that coach...nothing else...basically publicity for nothing...

typical Arriva...And if they do loose the XC franchise, GOOD RIDDENCE FROM THE SOUTH !

I honestly think there's a livery I don't like. But these must be my favorites -

1 - Midland Mainline (Blue livery)

2 - MML (Older tan green livery)

3 - XC (Very smart, particularly on the 221s and 222s!)

4 - East Midlands Trains (I didn't used to like this one, but its grown on me a bit)

5 - Central Trains

6 - Virgin (Very smart on the 57s)

7 - Gand Central (Quite basic which I think makes it better, it looks brill on Hornby's model!)

So?

It's a corporate image and identifies that it is First running the franchise.

As 90019 has said it's not just a name.

A livery consists of -

1. Colours of the company,
2. Associated Logos to the company
3. Staff Uniforms, company accessories (bags, pens, cups)
4. Station colours.

It all falls under the Four P's in marketing, this P being 'Promotion'
