Thought it would be an idea to have a Yorkshire Tiger thread, as we seem to have quite a few West Yorkshire based contributors to this section of the forum.
In recent months, the K-Line/Tiger Blue sub-brand based at Honley seems to have fallen out of favour, with vehicles slowly but surely switching to the standard orange livery. Additionally there has been a slight increase in former or current Honley buses working traditionally Waterloo routes.
Last week, the 80-84 group of services had their most radical re-working since Stagecoach took over Yorkshire Traction, as detailed on the WYITA website: http://www.wymetro.com/uploadedFiles/WYMetro/Content/travelnews/ServiceChanges/Service-changes.pdf
A big plus with these changes is the withdrawal of the 80, which for anyone beyond Lepton was the bus to avoid, as it was almost always quicker to wait 20 minutes for the following 82. As a result, the 80 was often loaded to levels that a Renault Espace could cope with despite being operated by full-size buses, even deckers, in order to cope with the schoolkids and the workers at Capita in Lepton for a handful of busy runs. Lepton now has a dedicated daytime service meaning those from Skelmanthorpe and Kirkburton don't have one of their 3 buses per hour rendered useless. That there are now two direct services per hour rather than one is a huge positive for Skelmanthorpe, though as the fastest and next-fastest have effectively switched numbers may well confuse people! Though the .pdf doesn't make it clear, the 81 now runs two per hour during the day, spread at 20/40 minutes apart with the 82 running in the other 20.
