I seem to recall a thread with some terribly embarrassing wibble both on this site, other sites and in the railway press at the time the proposal to remove the engineers triangle was first suggested.

I wonder if certain posters feel a little silly now!

So how many working turntables are there owned by Network Rail then?

I think the one at Heaton is still operational. Certainly still used to be used to turn visiting steam locos on tours a few years ago.

Hither Green and Neville Hill have operational turntables, and one was installed at Fort William a few years back though i don't know if it's NR owned.
