York Turntable

I just wanted to draw your attention to the fact that the new turntable at York has been completed and is in operation:

I seem to recall a thread with some terribly embarrassing wibble both on this site, other sites and in the railway press at the time the proposal to remove the engineers triangle was first suggested.

I wonder if certain posters feel a little silly now!

Don't know certainly at least 1

I think the one at Heaton is still operational. Certainly still used to be used to turn visiting steam locos on tours a few years ago.

Scarborough is used in the summer season to turn the Scarborough Spa loco

Would that not be in the ownership of the depot owner?

Hither Green and Neville Hill have operational turntables, and one was installed at Fort William a few years back though i don't know if it's NR owned.

If it is I would presume its the kind of asset which the consultation on winding up BRBR proposed to hand to NR, so perhaps it will be shortly!
