York to Woodlesford

So, I have been looking at trying to use the new service via castleford to and from work.

It doesn't show the option in national rail journey planner unless you force it to to go via Castleford, even though it's quicker at times than via Leeds. It also shows no ticket options.

If I was to try this with my season ticket, do we think I would be fine? Considering it is direct and I don't backtrack on myself. Or has this rather niche possible routing just not been taken account of this new service?

It is 25 3/4 miles (using the 1958 NER timetable for York-Cas) whereas via Leeds is 30, should be OK as it's certainly not more than 3 miles longer (!).

Presuming you hold a York to Woodlesford season (or vice versa), then yes, travelling via Castleford is absolutely valid.

In fact, it's the shortest route and thus according to the risible logic of the Routeing Guide, "most customers" want to travel that way - no doubt especially on Sundays, when the new TPE service doesn't run

This journey is valid via Castleford because that is the shortest route and the fares are routed 'Any Permitted'. It seems journey planners are not updated yet with the York-Castleford direct mileage, however the mileage does appear to be present in the latest National Rail Timetable, Table 038 which states the York-Castleford mileage is exactly 19 miles which feels like a rough guess to me...

It should go without saying that it remains valid to travel via Leeds.
