York to Cambridge via Stevenage

I will take the train from York to Cambridge. Is the 4min transfer time enough?
I see I need transfer from Platform 2 to Platform 4.
I want to buy Anvanced Single Ticket, if I miss this train, can I take the next one for free?

Yes, if you miss the 14:02 Stevenage-Cambridge you can use the next Thameslink train to Cambridge.

The minimum connection time is 4 minutes so I think you could take the next one, I'm not sure though so I'll leave this one to the experts.

If you position yourself around Coaches 3 or 6, you should be by the stairs or lift to the overbridge for Platform 4.

Stevenage is my local station.

If you miss the 14:02 the next Cmabridge departure is at 14:08 arriving at 14:53 - they delay wouldn't even qualify for delay repay!

Form a ticketing point of view if you miss the train you're allowed to get the next train but GTR also have an easement which allows you to take any train, if they operate the connecting service to a longer distance journey.

You won't be taking it for free; you've paid for carriage and you are entitled to take the next train if a delay results in a missed connection.

Are you happy with potentially arriving late? If so, go ahead and book.

Alternatively if arrival time is critical for you, I would instead book with a website that allows you to force extra interchange time at Stevenage (such as our site).

Have you checked our site, as the screenshot looks to be from Trainline; we do sometimes beat them on price (as well as any bookings helping with the upkeep of the forum!)
