York Rail Replacement Bus

As someone who has missed rail replacement buses abroad due to not finding the bus stop, I take interest in the relevant signage in the UK.

Attached is a information board at York station saying “During planned engineering works or disruption, Rail Replacement services use Bus Stand E outside the Principal Hotel on Station Road”.

While I didn’t need to use the rail replacement bus on this occasion, I did note that I couldn’t see either Bus Stand E or the Principal Hotel in the vicinity!

Were the photo and the map too complicated for you?

I think the issue is that both the name of the hotel and the lettering of the bus stop have changed since that information board was produced.

There has also been the added bonus, on midweek nights, that Northerns Replacement York Leeds RRB starts not only on the opposite side of Station Road, but from the new stands the furthest away from the Milner York you can get...
