York - Newcastle disruption today (05/07/24)

Hi folks, any idea what is going on with LNER / XC / TPE north of York this afternoon? I’ve got a family member making a journey to Newcastle and at the moment there is a ‘do not travel’ notice with disruption expected until the end of the day.

Hi folks, any idea what is going on with LNER / XC / TPE north of York this afternoon? I’ve got a family member making a journey to Newcastle and at the moment there is a ‘do not travel’ notice with disruption expected until the end of the day.

Just heard from a mate on a southbound LNER that they were stopped at Alnmouth due to person hit by a train in Newcastle area. Obviously can't confirm veracity.

XC 1S35 (221114) had struck a person near Chester-le-street at 1130 Lines still not re-opened as of 1510 due to a complex cleanup and passengers having to be evacuated onto a empty Voyager 5V96 that pulled alongside due to the impact damage rendering 1S35 not able to move.

Sounds a nasty business. Cheers for the gen, hopefully by the time they get to York (1800ish) things might be moving again.
