Yet another redesigned Tube Map

As the Tube Map has become more and more tangled up recently (with the introduction of Thameslink and the Elizabeth line) there have been a lot of redesigns aiming to make it easier to understand, and here’s mine. I’ve changed a few line and station names but haven’t changed any service patterns. Have a look and share your thoughts!

Just how large would that have to be if all the names are to be legible? Tourists would have to fold and unfold a piece of paper the size of the Daily Telegraph.

Don't like it. Too much white space, station markers aren't big enough, text is way too small.
I think the official published map is pretty good TBH. There's one or two oddities on it but nothing major.

Anyway, enough about real life, the map shows a bit too much white space for West London.

One of the changes I do not agree with is splitting the northern line, because there are still a few Charing Cross branch trains that continue to Morden, so a better way of doing it would have been a limited service link line at Kennington dividing the two branches out. Otherwise same issues apply, such as small text, and small markers.

To be honest, the current map is so crowded now it's more like the London Connection map that the Underground map (Emirates Air Line? Really?) so is due a rethink.

This isn't it. Sorry. The way that line colours flip back and forth (such as the Northern Line north of London) are confusing, and as others have said the huge amount of white space means you have to do a lot of scrolling to track a route. I had a similar problem with my Yorkshire Stations map, which is B0-sized and has 8pt labels, 6pt text. But covers a much larger area.

I'd like to have seen more of the "Circle to Search" map designed by TfL for the ad campaign but it was never made downloadable.

You beauty! As is the map... looks like a diagram from a sci-fi programme.

Waaaaaaaaaaaaay too spaced out, but ignoring that (my eyes!), here's my feedback...

• The District and Tram branches use very similar shades of green
• Rickmansworth-Croxley is limited service, as is Olympia
• Some Morden services run via CX in the peak
• Splitting the ELL seems unnecessary for just a few stations' difference up north
• The Elizabeth line shoudln't be shown with those white things; that's for National Rail
• The dangleway looks as if it's some sort of bloody walking connection...?
• West India Quay on the DLR looks confusing (although, tbf, so is the service pattern)
• Bethnal Green Junction?
• The different types of interchanges are confusing
• The key is not laid out as well as it perhaps could be

I can see where you're coming from but, as others have pointed out, the main problem is combining clarity with the need to fit everything into a small enough space to be handled and understood easily.

At Heathrow, your map is not accurate, as people will be expecting trains to take them directly to London without going via Heathrow Central, and also for Piccadilly Line trains from Heathrow Central to T4 without having to change at Hatton Cross, which isn't possible.

The Elizabeth Line *is* National Rail.

It's operated for TfL, not by a separate TOC, and it is very much TfL-branded. It is most certainly not on a(n operational) par with Chiltern or Thameslink.

That doesn't stop it being National Rail. It's even listed on the National Rail website.
