Hi

If I plan to travel on the 12:29pm service Monday from Yeovil Junction to London Waterloo and then return on Tuesday on the 15:20 service from Waterloo to Yeovil Junction am I right in thinking I could buy a super off peak return ticket using my disabled railcard for £40.10?

Thanks.

Yes, that's correct. The time restrictions on that particular Super Off-Peak ticket are that you can't take a train scheduled to arrive into London before 2pm Mon-Sat, and can't take a train scheduled to depart London before 12pm or between 16:00-19:00 (inclusive).

The 12:29 from Yeovil Junction to Waterloo is scheduled to arrive at its destination at 14:49 (this after 2pm) and the 15:20 departs after 12pm but before 16:00.

Bear in mind that the time restrictions on other Super Off-Peak fares will vary, in particular for journeys that go beyond the former Network SouthEast area (e.g. Rugby, Wellingborough, Peterborough, Ipswich or beyond).

If you want to save a bit more money, splitting at Andover (where train calls, but don't need to get off or change trains) will cost £36.85

This is based on the £25.60 return from Andover to Waterloo and advance singles between Yeovil and Andover which are under £6 each with the disabled railcard

...and are of course only valid on the specific trains concerned and non - refundable.
Up to you!

Beware the 12:29 is usually only a single 3 car unit until Salisbury so will be rather ‘cosy’.
The 2 later trains you can catch are both usual 6 car so will have more room.

Thanks for this info. I wish there was a way to bookmark posts like this with useful information to easily find in future.

Thank you for this information. Splitting is a new concept to me which I have only begun to start learning about since joining the Forum. It sounds like maybe I should be planning some days out in Andover if tickets from Yeovil to Andover are that cheap!

Thanks for the reminder. Yes I think I’ll stick to the Super Off Peak ticket on this occasion as I struggle with anxiety and the small financial gain from splitting will not be worth the anxiety it will cause. Splitting is something I’ve only just started to learn about since joining this Forum though and does interest me so it is good to have all the information.

Thanks so much for this info. This might explain why staff at Yeovil Junction sometimes struggle to find me a seat on the 12:29. I think I might try the 13:29 instead!
