Yeovil Junction layout pre-2008

Hi all,

Me and my mate who went to Yeovil Junction a couple of saturdays ago are wondering about the layout pre-2008. When we went, the car park looked...new..(the one next to the derelict platform) and was wondering if anyone actually knows about the sidings. We looked on Google Earth to see there was two rusted tracks going around the car park (and if you know, now the track ends before the car park) and the watermark says '2007'.

I have been past Yeovil Junction in 2007 on a HST but didn't notice much about the sidings. Was this really 2007? (and maybe explains why the car park was new) and does anyone know if it looked like this in the '90s?

Also, one more question, is the small 'shed' at the end of the car park (next to the station entrance footbridge, which is now some builders merchant IIRC) and looks like it was an engine shed maybe, for one small loco of course (as it isn't big)..I don't know if anyone actually knows what it is??

Hope that all makes sense, since going there it has baffled me to what it looked like and what that shed actually is..and of course any old photos or links showing the old redundant platform would be appreciated, I couldn't find much pictures through Photobucket or Google.

I'm not entirely sure what bit of Yeovil Junction you refer to, but I sure don't remember it too well.

Thanks Jules, but unfortunately nothing of use there..

..The area I am on a bout is the other side, not the Rail Centre side.

The layout is more like

Hmm, I only have vague memories of that after we arrived off the bus from Yeovil town yonks ago (2007 FoSS?). I don't recall seeing much as we were rushing to get onto the platform as I recall heading east.

I completely forgot what it looked like back then as well myself, only remember getting on the bus lol

I have recently walked to Yeovil town itself, only takes 20/30mins, not at martins speed either :P

In case you're wondering, we did that trip at Yeovil Junction with the bus on 28th August 2007. And I only know because I found it in my all-time moves book in the early hours of this morning!
