Yellow gangways on old stock

Ive noticed on alot of trains like 455s and 31x trains the gangways between coaches are yellow?

Any ideas why? Thanks

Just representative of ideas of late-1970s / early-1980s decor. The gangway areas in 4-CEP units were also coloured yellow because they were refurbished at the same time, and historically the HST carriages also had yellow colours in that area, before later refurbishments toned that down.

By the time the 321s were built in the very late 1980s / early 1990s, the use of yellow panels had moved on to more subtle grey colours.

The refurbished CEP's also had a lot of bright orange formica in the saloon areas as well. Possibly matched well with the brown stripey flat cloth furnishings but not so well with blue blaze moquette !

Various incarnations of Mk2s also had bright orange vestibules, later toned down to just the folding doors.

It is still possible to see 1 , possibly 2 coaches of GWR Night Riviera stock with vestibule end rubbers still in yellow not through age but fitted as " new " spare stock.
