What does a yellow diamond sign with 'AWS' on it mean?

You can see one on streetview here.

A guess of mine is it's to do with when there's wrong road running on the ECML, as you can see an AWS magnet fairly shortly ahead and perhaps it means "ignore upcoming indication". But I thought the sign for "ignore that AWS" was a Saltaire afterwards?

Its not yellow just manky.Its a termination of special aws working whatever that is,never seen one that i can remember.

Signs for Train Protection Systems and Cab Signalling

Simplified bi-directional signalling (SIMBIDS) was implemented on some routes between the years 1988 and 1995. This is an economical form of bi-directional signalling for use on double track railways worked by the Track Circuit Block system where wrong-direction movements are normally only made during emergencies or engineering work. A cost-saving feature of SIMBIDS is the absence of AWS for signals that apply in the wrong direction. Furthermore, the AWS provided for normal-direction signals is not suppressed, nor are any cancelling indicators provided. Lineside signs are provided to mark the start and finish of this special AWS working. Both signs are diagonal and contain the letters "AWS", and while the commencement sign also has a red diagonal cross [12.10], the termination sign does not [12.11].

It's an AWS gap. The diamond is for travelling in the wrong direction on bi-directional lines but I've never heard it called AWS Special working.

The link to the picture shows a diamond not a square which I agree is the termination of aws gap we have lots of them.The special aws thingy is news to me but then we don't have on lines iwork.

Square sign is travelling in the right direction. I was taught the Diamond sign is for the wrong direction and there was one at Carlisle which is an AWS gap area. I can find no rule book reference to "Special AWS working" but the signs are in there for working in the wrong direction on a bi-directional line.

To be fair googled it as I'd never seen the sign before.This lot seemed to have heard of it.
