Hi All,

Was just wondering if anybody can shed some light on the typical working week for a RSM for XC Trains? Everybody seems so happy working on within the industry (might be for the money, pension, union or just genuine love!! Is XC trains a good company to work for?

Also I am looking to progress in the industry and would like to become a Trains Manager or work towards a more senior roll.... but here's the catch, IM COLOUR BLIND! I know Driving is out of the question becuase it is a safety critical role, but can anybody inform me of other areas to develp into?

Thanks

Skippy :D

On the operational side, I'd say everything you see day to day is safety critical (train crew, dispatch, etc). You could go for ticket office or maybe RPI if your local company has them, otherwise it's Train Presentation Operatives, manager grades, control offices and head office to aim at.

Train manager is out of the question, as is senior conductor I am afraid. You may have to look at different path. Colour blindness means you will be unable to perform any safety crit role. Probably not what you wanted to hear but unfortunately that's the situation.
