Well the booked route is via Westgate as normal. The lack of a stop means no one can complain when it takes a different route.

It could, but the whole point of running non-stop between Sheffield and Leeds is so that it can go any way around and then XC do not have to provide any buses.

I'm sure that's all very convenient for XC, but not much use to Wakefield residents.

When you consider that this train only runs beyond Birmingham because its an HST, and is therefore outside of the TOCs service agreement. I'd just be glad to at least have an additional service to Leeds from the south in the evening!

Once again, splendid if you live in Leeds, but of no use whatsoever for Wakefield residents.

Unless it goes via Doncaster and Micklefield.

In fact I don't think that XC drivers/guards are able to stop at Kirkgate anymore (lack of knowledge); used to be that they'd stop trains there when diverted that way, but I haven't seen them do so for a couple of years at least. Compared to say Reading West where the crew do have the appropriate knowledge to stop there and do so regularly.

That would certainly be backed up by my (not so) recent experience when a Voyager reversed at Kirkgate. Even though the train stopped alongside the platform, it was not a public stop.

Will XC run 4 M-F HST diagrams every day during the school summer holidays this year?

One for the traincrew on here to confirm, but surely such details are part of the basic route knowledge, even for a diversionary route? There are all sorts of reasons for trains being required to stop out-of-course at stations that they don't normally call at.
