XC Mass Cancellations (20/10)

Anybody know what’s causing the mass cancellations on XC due to driver shortage today? Seems even with a reduced timetable today they have an Avanti level of cancellations.

No idea about specifics for today, is RDW ban for drivers (thanks to Dft) still in place ?? Stansted Airport route suffers multiple daily cancellations almost every day.

Yes, no RD agreement since last November, most depots staff numbers OK apart from New Street, shortages there for years.
Vast majority of the cancellations are on the cl170 routes.

Was the same yesterday. Loads of Birmingham - Cardiff cancelled

The 170 routes are also the routes where services have returned to near normal* pre covid levels.

* there's a single round trip Birmingham-Stansted missing, a number of Cmabridge-Stansteds missing, and a Birmingham-Derby missing. I think the full Nottingham-Birmingham-Cardiff services are operating but not 100% sure.

Glad someone brought this up, I was just about to make a thread. So many trains cancelled yesterday and today. It’s not just services to Cardiff as well, a good 30% or more of the Manchester to Bournemouth services over the last month have either been entirely cancelled or partially cancelled by the looks of it, which is especially bad considering how infrequent the service pattern is

Almost all Cardiff-Nottinghams cancelled yesterday between Cardiff and Birmingham (screenshot below from Gloucester), only one or two running today - this left Cardiff today with only 2 services to Birmingham (one at 06:40 and 19:50).


On the plus side, most voyager/HST services between Cheltenham Spa and Birmingham have had an additional stop at Worcestershire Parkway put in.

Not a good day today either. Not helped by driver training needed for revisions at New Street, on top of other issues.
