XC Hst's

Hey there.
Just wondering how many HST sets will there be once XC have all their Powercars ECT
And if there is going to be more than two which diagrams will they work??

There will eventually be 5 sets; 4 out and 1 spare/on maintenance per day.

2x Yorkshire-S.West-Scotland (stabling at EC)
2x Scotland-S.West-Yorkshire (stabling at NL)

Train1 : 08:10 New St-Plymouth
Train2 : 09:10 New St-Plyomuth
Train3 : 11:10 New St-Plymouth
Train4 : 13:10 New St-Plymouth

That'll be because 43303 and 43285 were engaged on the 0610 Exeter SD to Manchester Picc, 1224 Manchester Picc to Penzance and 2045 Penzance to Plymouth, whilst 43357 and 43321 were sitting on Craigentinny.

It's Voyagers next weekend too on the usual stuff, with 43357 and 43321 (assuming no power cars changed) on the refurbished set on the Manchester job, and 43303 and 285 should be on Craigentinny (with proper seats still thus far). No guarentees mind, but that's what SHOULD be happening.

Sounds about right.

From Plymouth believe it is 1221, 1321, 1521 and 1721

Why did they go to Manchester instead of their normal diagram out of interest?

I don't know to be honest, might have been some event on in Manchester, Stockport, Macclesfield or Stoke-on-Trent that they want to provide extra capacity for which the diagram suited. I don't recall anyone mentioning anything like that though.

Could always have been some crank in AXC Control who was going to Manchester and wanted a HST...Unlikely but you never know!

Well hopefully once you get the full list a diagrams I can work out if I can go to uni everyday on one of these beasts.
But where did they get all their power cars from I only every seen photos of two power cars at brush that were former virgin powercars so how 10 manage to turn up is just confusing.

Those diagrams would tie in with what I've heard.

Phoenix: I'm suprised you didn't know of the ex-MML power cars XC now use, 301 and 303 obviously ex-store renumbered from 101 and 103.

I made that mistake in the past to be fair, but DEE is definately Dundee, and DUN is definately Dunbar.

One does at the moment, starts with the 0640 Dunbar to Glasgow Central then does the 0900 Glasgow Central to Plymouth.

Most people would assume DUN is Dundee. I sure did!

103 was never MML. It last worked with VXC.

Managed to get the New set from York to Newcastle this afternoon.
Watbec have seemed to have done a very nice job, however parts of the rolling stock are starting to fall to bits

There is also a bad wheel flat on 42366 but apart from that it's a very nice job well done!
Had the pleasure of 43357 heading the train up and it was running very well indeed thus including the odd bit of thrashing

Thank Goodness it's just a fabric change, I was starting to get concerned we'd have NO proper seats left!

Not worth trying to argue the merits of the ex-MML set to any non-HST bashers Scott, they don't understand the difference between having a Valenta in a power car on the set you're on and having a MTU in one to HST/Valenta cranks.:roll:

let's hope so, the first class seats are superb in MML sets and... maybe some sockets shoved in there too
