Any pictures of it actually in use?

I don't think it's used now, but was it ever used?

It's never been used and God knows if it ever will be!!! The catering base still doesn't have power either! Oh, and beware XC05 - I had a monumental farce with 'Would a member of the on board crew please go to Zone A' blaring out over the PA last week. Caused by a fault with the standard class disabled loo of all things:(

What was the point in installing them then? They must be planning on getting them working at some point. It will need some on board software management systems to work.
Well you'd think that, but when I travelled on the first set to enter traffic you could see the lcd displays intended for this purpose. When I travelled recently, not knowing which set, there were open holes where the screens should have been. Incidentally, I find it extremely odd they have tried to integrate it into a train over 30 years old, but they never tried to put it on the 170 fleet. Surely that would have been easier and give consistency across the board if they plan to get the HSTs working.

I remember that one set the works without having the LCD screens fitted because it was needed in service in a few days so it was never complete. I think that could be the reason why none of them are complete - they just ran out of time.
As for the 170s, I never see many reserved seats on these anyway. They didn't really change the interior too much apart from cosmestic things and it would have probably required some heavy work to install them they XC was not prepared to take on.

On the contrary, with the ticket websites seemingly doing auto reservations on Off-Peak tickets and the popularity of advance fares it's quite possible to see nearly 40percent labelled up
