Odd. Their booking system must be playing up. Or do they withdraw them during summer months?
Avantix says they do as well, but I can't pull them up using either crosscountry.co.uk or any other web portal.
XC advance availability is VERY patchy thesedays unfortunately. You seemingly have to travel at the absolute off-peak to get any kind of advance tickets.
Are we talking SC or FC here? I can get SC no problems, it's just FC not showing up at all.

Found eventually that for BRI > BHM you can find FC Advance by splitting at CNM, although amusingly the FC Anytime Single is cheaper than the Advance ticket offered.

There are dates for which through Bristol Temple Meads to Birmingham New Street First Class Advance tickets are available.
For example, there is a good choice of trains with £23 First Advance fares currently shown on the NXEC site for Saturday 4 July 2009.
There is very limited, if any, availability on weekdays.
This is not a regulated fare, so TOCs can choose whether and when to offer it.

Talking about XC First Advance, wouldn't it be sensible if they offered these fares on the Birmingham - Leicester/Cambridge/Stansted route? On off peak trains, the First Class compartment is often guaranteed to be empty aside from rail staff or those with free passes, whilst Standard is very full. Many people would not wish to partake with First Anytime fares on this route, but I would gladly buy First Advance fares if they became available.

Whilst the theory of that is good, it wouldn't work in practice. There are 9 seats, you can't sell all to Advance customers, so that would probably leave 3 or 4 depending on which service you use. There's not enough scope for flexibility really.
