XC delays 030611

On my way to birmingham and having fun. 13.07 service from oxford to birmingham has just reversed at hatton, and now returning to leamington spa, for a reversal to coventry, hopefully then on to birmingham!

Sounds like it has taken the "normal" route then and gone non-stop through Birmingham International

Delay shown as being due to signalling problems.

Left Oxford 6 late, passed (or in this case, not passed!) Hatton 20 down, departed New St 27 down and is still about 27 down having passed Burton-on-Trent

I think they decided to go via Solihull as Coventry was experiencing delays, but must've decided it is more important to go via Coventry and internation to drop off Passengers so they reveresed?

Thats interesting...signalling problem is at Berkswell. The 1307 from Oxford was booked via Dorridge and Tyseley but sounds (and looks too) like it reversed at Hatton to go back to Leamington Spa, reverse again there and then go down via Coventry.

Since all trains are being diverted the way the 1307 should have gone due to said signalling problem, I'm at a loss why they sent that one down to Coventry

There is always problems with signalling at Berkswell, anyone got any further details? Cable theft or general issue?

It's now 14 down approaching Darlington, and holding up two East Coast services.

Still bemused as to how a signalling failure at Berkswell means stopping a train not going through Berkswell in its tracks and making it turn round and go to Berkswell. Did it stop at Coventry or BHI?

I saw the 11:27 to Manchester Piccadilly leave Coventry heading backwards for Leamington Spa after being delayed by around 30 minutes.

Been that sort of day today in the West Midlands, Pretendolino got caped at Coventry and worked the 12:11 COV - EUS but has since returned to its normal duties...

Been that sort of day in the North West too! Points failure at Birkenhead Central meant no Wirral Line trains until about midday, then of course they were absolutely packed. Wouldn't have been so bad except two of them decided to terminate the service at Hooton as they were "late running". Never mind about 500 bewildered passengers stranded in the blazing sun with very little information, we mustn't get penalized for late running .

Adding insult to injury, my 14:19 to South Wales was still on 4b when we eventually crawled into Chester, only to disappear as I ran around the platform island towards it! You would think that they'd have been aware of the Wirral Line delays and hung on another minute for passengers in transit.

I got a shrug and "you'll have to ask the station manager" when I asked at the gates if I could go via Crewe to get back to Hereford, despite being on an AP ticket. The station manager immediately said yes that's fine, so I was only half an hour late back in the end, but what a palaver.

Points failure I can accept, signal failure I can accept, even leaves on the line I could accept, but terminating services short because they are running late completely baffles me.

I was at Coventry as well today and saw 220007 reversing, i also caught it on film!

and for the Pretendolino, i was going to ride on it from Coventry to Birmingham New Street but got terminated at Coventry and went back to Rugby on it!!!! so i did get my Pretendolino ride but not the way i was planning!

I think I saw you film the Voyager, I was in the First Class Lounge at the time.

I watched the Pretendolino leave Coventry whilst some very angry American tourists decided to voice their disapproval to virtually everybody around and where then taking it out on the staff who were trying to recover a book they had dropped underneath 90048!

Has me stumped as well, considering it arrived 22 late at Darlington and left 25 down. Any East Coast services were already well delayed anyway due to other problems so this didn't affect any that I can see.

Still, they like to blame XC for everything though.

Had a terrible time with CrossCountry recently on 31st May and 2nd June. Half an hour late arriving in Oxford from Newcastle, Train Manager blamed East Coast the entire way about twice an hour. Return journey from Oxford to Newcastle, was due to get the 12.07 direct... ending up getting on the 11.07 at 12:30

I spent a good few minutes choosing a nice aisle table seat with a window view, yet I was lucky to eventually get a seat. :cry:

That's nowt, you should have had to experience the continuous lateness of a certain Go North East bus from Sunderland to Consett that I used to get home from work, as it just ran between the two destinations all day, it never ever caught up if it was running late.

In the end it would stop at Sunderland and then run through it's route as not in service until such a time where it had caught up and then continued as normal.
The number of times I was left at my stop just outside the city centre after it had gone by not in service really used to p me off (leading to me getting home half an hour at least, later than I should have)
