XC Advance Ticket Query

This Saturday I've booked to go to Wolverhampton to visit a friend, thing is I've booked it on TrainSplit site, going down is fine but I'm booked all the way back (via Stafford) on 19:15 XC Wolverhampton-Manchester Piccadilly service which turns out now isn't running on Saturday due to stike action and I was wondering despite my ticket being an advanced purchase ticket for 19:15 service now how to get back from Wolverhampton? Am I Ok catching any TOC's train back (Split Ticket is split at Stafford in both directions btw if that helps).

Also am I ok catching any train back or does it need to be as near to 19:15 as possible just thinking about getting back to Manchester via Crewe

They have some answers to these questions here. To summarize:

You can travel on any CrossCountry train on the Saturday or Sunday, and they'd rather you travelled earlier in the day if possible
You can use your Advance ticket on all the other Train Companies in the area (London Midland, Virgin, Northern, Arriva Trains Wales); you're asked to travel "As close to your original booked time as possible."

I'm uncertain with taking a different route. However, as taking the trains of different companies may imply different routes, I'd guess that it would be valid as long as you're on a normally valid route from Stafford to Manchester (which via Crewe is). Others may be able to confirm this.
