X1 registration is cancelled with effect from 28th July, not 1st July. Whether the operator bothers to run the buses is another matter.
490 is a red herring. X1 operates Hanley - Stoke - Wedgwood - Barlaston - Stone whilst 490 operates Stone - Norton Bridge - Stafford. Providing long-term rail replacement services for the underlined stations - now celebrating their 10th (or is it 11th) anniversary!
There is no overlap, and the two services do not connect except by accident.
Rail tickets are now valid on First service 23/23A which sort of pass in the vicinity of Wedgwood and Barlaston stations. Given the extended journey times it is a poor show. Whether the 23/23A meet LM's franchise requirements is another matter.
The 23/23A timetable will change on 22 July when First revise their Potteries bus network. Journey times are shortened as a result.
Beware Bank holiday travel - LM say the services operate, the bus companies say otherwise.
