Good Morning.
I spent an hour at Ackers Crossing(Astbury) yesterday whilst walking the dog, as SWMBO collected some goods from a friend who lives next to the line.

This line is indeed very busy, with lots of Pendos/Voyagers & Northern EMUs,
I noted the Voyager XCs were in diagrams of two, three & four coaches, not having any TT, I wondered where the two coach diagrams were headed up & down. I was there between 1300 & 1400, I also presume a station must have been around years ago, as Ackers Crossing leads off station Rd.

Posters everywhere proclaiming brightwater on all cables & fittings.

From what I can tell your post makes no sense....

Voyagers only run in 4 and 5 car formations if that is what you mean...?

Are you sure you weren't seeing XC 170s? They run in 2 and 3 car formations whilst Voyagers run in 4 or 5 as MC247 says.

you are probably correct some may well have been 170s, they were travelling at speed, thanks for your knowledge. So where would the two car units be going to/from?

Later, had a look at pics & yes some looked like 170s or similar, I am also sure some of these 170s or very look alike were used the the Chester to Shrewsbury via Wrexham line by Central trains when they held the franchise.

If they were XC Turbostars, they shouldn't have been in the Congleton/Kidsgrove area at all, as they work the Cardiff-Birmingham-Nottingham and Birmingham-Leicester-Stansted routes.

Are you sure you weren't seeing 220s at speed, or Northern services? Or EMT?

220 + 221s runas as 4 and 5 car formations respectively, "ondon midland 350s run via kidsgrove from london Euston via stoke alsager to crewe (4 car). Northern 323s are 3 car and they run up to Manchester via Congleton (from Stoke) the 153 / 158 EMT units (1 / 2 car respectively) run the Derby to Crewe route and again run via Alsager. And last but not least the pendos run Euston - Stoke - Manchester via Congleton if that is any use.
The amount of times I have stood on stoke station waiting for 6G71 :)
