I would like to travel from Wymondham (WMD) to Cambridge (CBG) via Stowmarket (SMK). As I have to change trains at Norwich station (NRW) on the way would I be able to break my journey there? If not then would I at least be able to get the staff to let me through the barriers so I can use the toilet and visit the shops?

Whether or not you can break your journey depends on the type of ticket you are using. You will be permitted to break your journey on all Anytime tickets and on all Off-Peak (Day) Return tickets' return portions. You will also be permitted to break your journey on most such outward portions, however you would need to check the restriction code of the ticket to be sure. Break of journey is not permitted on an Advance ticket.

Yes, it's a permitted route.

Norwich passes the NM64 fares check; Cambridge is a Routeing Point, and it's a simple matter of this being a traceable route on map EA.

So providing the ticket type allows break of journey, it's fine to break the journey at Norwich, or indeed anywhere else en route.
