Network Rail want rid of them as its a link with the past when the railway was a proper joined up railway not like now.

Alternatively, rather than it being some grand conspiracy, Network Rail are following the practice of railways on the continent and moving towards having a smaller number of signalling centres rather than a large number of smaller signal boxes. It is, of course, also worth remembering that BR closed far more signal boxes than Railtrack or Network Rail have so far managed.

I was meaning getting rid of the image of the old as in the removal of the buildings i.e. old redunent signal boxes etc as quick as possible, especially befrore someone gets a preservation order on them.

Though of course most of those were built before BR existed when the railway was both privatised and fractured...

I remember someone saying to me that any Person/Railway can buy one of the signal boxes, if it can remove them, Not to sure if this is true or not as I am not to farmiliar with UK Rail Infestructure
