The Wrexham and Shropshire ticketing site is now showing the revised times for trains ex Marylebone from 5 October. The 0645 departure is now retimed to 0723. The 2003 evening service has been brought forward to 1833. The last routing to London from the North (currently arrives MYB at 1923) is still not bookable for advance tickets or seat reservations.

Great. I'd been using the 2003 MYB departure a fair bit recently. However if the retiming means that it's better patroned, that can't be a bad thing.
I wonder if the 9.01 Shrewsbury and 15:15 Marylebone departure I discovered and posted on the refurbished stock thread will see the light of day.

I have seen the site, I note on Sundays only two up trains ex Wrexham,yet
three downs, seems the same at Shrewsbury?

later I have been inform by those who know,the missing train is due to engineering work, and will return.
The 15:15 is on NEEC website as an Arriva Service....
The Shropshire Star, the highly reputable paper that it is, has just published a snippet evidently sent in by WSMR to alert us to a faster new timetable coming in next month although I'm yet to see evidence of this on the booking engines.
Ah sorry, I think I meant the 13:15.

Sounds better times; that plus speed improvements could make a big difference
To be fair it states improved journey plans as a result in increased line speeds. The MD of WSMR in a post to a thread a couple of weeks ago identified the improvement in line speeds between Princes Risborough and Bicester. A saving of a few minutes has allowed them to use paths at much more convenient times.

The six minute saving permits the earlier path out of London - much more convenient for travellers but there must be path conflicts further north as the timing to Wellington is still 2 hours 53 minutes. The 1833 takes 3 minutes longer to travel to Shrewsbury and 9 minutes longer to get to Wrexham (4:03 v 3:54).
However, the earlier timing has to be of greater benefit to passengers despite the slightly longer journey time to some stations.

WSMR have applied for changes to enable the set down/ pick up restrciion at Banbury to be removed and also to call at Leamington Spa and Wembley Stadium (for events).
They are also applying to operate class 168 dmus.

on a 3rd party rail website, i dnt know if i can mention them or not, but it shows from monday 14th december, wrexham has an extra morning service at 08:20 to london m.
Interesting link. Does anyone know what WSMR's long term intentions are with regard their choice of rolling stock? The addition of class 168s to their track access agreement is interesting. I thought that they had already operated 168s as relief trains.
I wonder if the loco hauled sets get mothballed? It would seem a shame especially after all the money spent on getting the rolling stock overhauled.
