When I was at Tame Bridge a couple of months ago waiting for WMSR it was on the day whenit was diverted via Crewe and Stafford and the ticket office guy was giving us updates every 10 minutes of exactly where the train was which was very helpful given the platform departure boards were wrong as usual.

Tame Bridge wasn't manned for all WSMR departures if my experience was anything to go by, although it could have been that by the evening departure something had happened meaning the staff had to leave. It also didn't help that that ticket office is some short distance from the two platforms (favouring London bound platform and very convenient for the car park though).

I suppose if loadings were sufficient a loco hauled Chiltern rake could be used on those particular Kidderminster services?

I like this idea, although Smethwick Galton Bridge is a very unfortunate place to change at. The high/low levels wouldn't appeal to disabled passengers, passengers with heavy luggage etc. Also, on a personal note I would avoid that place at all costs after dark, such an undesireable place

Ah! I can't say I know the place too well. My memory of it is that its all reasonably modern, plenty of lifts and signage... Was definitely in daylight hours though!! Maybe for my plan it would need staffing. Hmm.

It would actually have been very easy for the W&S services to call at Walsall as well or instead of Tame Bridge..

It would have been yes, but considering they were so constrained through the West Mids they would probably have lost their paths as it involved changing ends.

This was a station ATW intended to use in their attempt to run an open access service. Also they intended to use Leamington Spa & Banbury, the last two I presume would be out of bounds to them now like W/S.
