From experience, TfW short-forming ( i.e. 2 cars vice 4) of Cambrian services is endemic both sides of Shrewsbury with the absence of a Pwllheli portion very frequent. Realtime Trains data suggests around two thirds of TfW Birminghams have been 2 cars in the last couple of days.

The ‘Business Case’ quoted in post #713 is the work of the local MP, a £98k public servant. Mmmm.
I agree there are a lot of shortforms but they are supposed to be 4 so promising services will be extended to 4 is misleading as they alreafy are scheduled to be 4 and are shortformed and TfW arent guarenteeing no short forms in future so its a hollow 'success"

Sorry if it’s already been asked, but are 221101-106 still capable of running at the faster speeds that were permitted when they were with Avanti compared to normal 221 timings?

No 221 EPS speeds exist on the WCML now.
Is that definitely the case? Appreciate that the Sectional Appendix isn't necessarily up to date, but it still indicates EPS 221 / EPS 390 differentials around Berkhamsted, Leighton Buzzard, Rugby and Tebay (there maybe others too, especially at the Northern/Scottish end)

Tebay might still be there. The ones at the southern end are gone, its line speed/MU/EPS for 390s only.

Usually Transport announcements, whether from DfT or other agencies come at 7am, before the markets open.

Suspect they have more time with Alstom not listed.
Even when regulatory announcements are made, DfT can take couple of hours to add things to its website. Alstom is so big it probably wouldn't announce anything under about €100m. (Actually Alstom has announced today, for 35 Corradia Stream Nordic, worth about €350m, which indicates value of their announcements)
Seeing today is 29th September, let’s hope there is a decision announced.

Nothing is on the ORR website, as of yet.
ORR normally adds things to its website 09:30 - 10am

One enthusiastic MP who hinted at an announcement is all there is publicly so far.

Julia Buckley has made a comment this morning, no mention of the WSMR, but a general comment on wcml. Unusual for her to make a comment when the decision not announced?

It's been another productive Labour Conference here in Liverpool again this year.

We've heard a lot of positive news including plans for the creation of a National Care Service, which will sit alongside our National Health Service and will be free at the point of access.
Great news also about the nationalisation of West Coast Main Line Railway, which will mean improvement to our services in Shrewsbury.

I have also been invited to be a keynote speaker on several panels in my new role as chair of the national Rural Transport All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) which has led to lots of support and investment opportunities for Shrewsbury.
And as an executive board member of the Labour Rural Research Group, it was reassuring to have the DEFRA Ministers speak at our event to thank us for our contribution to policy.

I'm looking forward to hearing the Prime Minister's speech later today to hear his plans to tackle many of the difficult issues our country currently faces.

Next week is duly marked - here is hoping for good news, even if I think it will again result negatively.

Probably don’t want to release bad news during the Labour/Government conference week.

Clearly with endless Nationalisation announcements taking place the last thing they want is an entrepreneurial open access operator…

I tend to share the same opinion.

Are you suggesting the ORR's independence is compromised? That seems like a serious allegation to make against its members, given that it is a statutory independent body answerable to parliament and the courts, not to a minister. I hope you have some evidence of this compromise. The ORR members are chosen for their technical expertise, not their political alignment and their remit is set by the laws they are following, not by party political priorities.

In this case, I guess so!

(our defintions of good regarding football are, however, the same)
Interesting because l know, from another forum, who Kashmir supports (unless of course someone else is using the same posting name there).
