Wrexham Central effectively closed for 2 months…

TfW have just announced that virtually all trains between Wrexham Central and Wrexham General will be withdrawn from 10 October for 2 months owing to the introduction of a ‘leaf fall’ timetable.

I know the two stations are not far apart but it appears that there will be no rail replacement buses provided.
Surely they should have an accessible taxi/minibus available for those with mobility issues?

I wonder if there are any other station closures during the leaf fall period and if replacement transport is provided?

One question... why?
Could only presume adhesion issues with the gradient into Central. Much easier to cape at P3 in General for a longer turnaround than to struggle with wheelslip out of Central.

Its an inconvenience to those who do use Central either way and I'd hope TfW have a backup in the form of minibuses (as per OP's query) or in some cases compensate for taxis.

The notion of providing a bus to drive what must be less than 250m for about 3 minutes each way in an hour is ridiculous. It would be better value to simply provide a taxi for anyone who really needs one.

Presumably because, with the slower schedules required by the leaf fall timetable (braking having to be gentler to avoid incidents like Talerdigg and Salisbury) there is not enough time to get from General to Central and back to fit into the return path. They are normally allowed only 5 minutes turnround time at Central

Yeah makes sense.

Did the 150's struggle in the same way?
Never this bad.

Come to think of it, aren't 197s still covering for 230s on some diagrams? In which case it might not be just the 230s to blame, 197s are dreadfully light-footed.

Interesting, I've not really followed the progress of the 230's, to be honest I expected them to go the same way as the LNWR examples.

197s do cover some early morning and evening diagrams and the occasional mid-day run
